Your Help is Greatly Appreciated
The Saint Joseph Preserve is need of volunteers to help with a variety of tasks to maintain the preserve and help with events.
We are in need of volunteers with talents in hospitality , music, education, art, woods work, carpentry, outdoor labor, secretarial, craftsmanship, leadership, organizational, performance, food service, housekeeping, cleaning, and more.
The Saint Joseph Preserve depends on volunteers to continue to operate. Please consider volunteering weekly, monthly or as time allows in your schedule.
Volunteer Positions
Below are some of the volunteer positions we are in need of at the Saint Joseph Preserve.
Specialized Skills Volunteers
We are in need of volunteers with specialized skills for various positions. Currently we are looking for experts in the following areas:
- Financial Experts & Accountants
- Construction Workers
- Marketing & Community Outreach
- Musicians
- Canoe guides on the Crow Scenic Riverway and/or Lake Koronis
- Theater performers/directors
If you have a specialized skill in another area or occupation, please reach out to us, we may be able to use your talents!
Outdoor Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to maintain and improve the grounds for retreaters. Tasks include picking up sticks on trails; collecting trash, emptying ash from fire rings, cleaning and weeding on a regular basis; removing invasive species, raking and cleaning up beachfront area, sweeping and cleaning small screen shelters and storage buildings.
Ministry Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to help in the following areas:
- Priests, Deacons, and Religious are invited to participate in existing events or create their own.
- Priests Offer Mass, Confession, devotions and theological teachings.
- Catholic Educators, Speakers or Presenters are welcome to offer talks at retreat camping events.
Fundraising Volunteers
Fundraising volunteers are needed to help secure funding and resources to sustain the ministries at Saint Joseph Preserve.
Hospitality and Event Volunteers
Hospitality and event volunteers are needed to help events run smoothly so that retreaters can focus on prayer, spiritual growth, learning, and have enjoyable experiences. Some of the duties include: assisting with setting up event tents, tables, chairs, signs, games, etc.; greeting attendees; facilitating registration, donations, and orientation; working the booth to sell items, serving photography or leading events.
Cleaning & Housekeeping Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to help with basic housekeeping/cleaning of the Saint Joseph Preserve Chapel and other buildings at the Saint Joseph Preserve. Specific Duties include vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, cleaning the kitchen, wiping furniture, emptying trash cans, cleaning windows, and dusting.
Secretarial Volunteers
Secretarial volunteers are needed to help with distributing information for events; communicate with event participants for registration, liability waivers, and answer questions. Secretarial volunteers are also needed to coordinate volunteers and communicate to leaders of events.
Youth Volunteers
Requiem Retreat Students in 7th through 12th are invited to a "rest" retreat before the start of the school year on August 11th. It'll be a half day retreat starting in the mid-afternoon into evening at the St. Joseph Preserve in Paynesville. Save the date for now, more details to come out later.
Board Members
The board consists of eight to nine Board Member Volunteers that meet four times a year, offering their perspectives on spiritual and financial decisions that are most critical to Saint Joseph Preserve. The Board also decides which events will be hosted and how to execute plans.
