Nature Trails
Come experience God in the stillness and beauty of nature!
Enjoy a hike or bike through rolling hills, prairie, and old growth forests. Be on the lookout for an abundance of wildlife and bird species along the Crow Scenic Riverway, ponds, and the many diverse habitats found at Saint Joseph Preserve.
Saint Joseph Preserve has over five miles of nature trails. Each trail is marked with signs that correspond to the color on the map. Names for trails and points of interest are on the maps to help with orientation. Maps are available for guests at the Saint Joseph Chapel.
All trails are great for hiking, and mountain biking.
The hilly terrain offers great views and a good workout! We recommend exploring with at least one other person for safety or bringing your cell phone if you are alone. Please remember to bring a backpack with essentials for your outing.
Forage for Berries & Greens
We encourage you to forage for wild berries, greens, and mushrooms. While nettle, Basswood flowers, pine pollen, runts, and violets make for tasty early foraging delights, summer and fall are great times to feast in wild mustard, plums, chokecherries, butternuts, mushrooms, and much more. All we ask is that you be careful with identification. Feel free to pick wild edibles to use and process at home!
